Founded in 1962 as an
independent organisation, BIAC is the officially recognised
representative of the OECD business community. BIACs members
are the major business organisations in the 30 OECD
member countries. Via its 32 standing committees and
task forces,
BIAC mirrors all economic policy issues the OECD covers, and their
impacts on both member and an increasing number of non-member
countries like Brazil, China, India and Russia.
BIACs primary objectives are to:
 |
Positively influence the direction of OECD policy initiatives |
 |
Ensure business and industry needs are adequately addressed in
OECD policy decision instruments |
 |
Provide members with timely information on OECD policies and their
implications for business and industry |
Over the course of
2007, more than 2300 business representatives were actively
involved in the work of the OECD through BIAC. |
