What is the vision for the Future of the Internet Economy, and what policy frameworks are necessary to enable this vision? This will be the focus of an important
OECD Ministerial on the Future of the Internet Economy that will take place in
Seoul Korea, June 16-18, 2008.
Over 35 Ministers will be present at this meeting together with senior business leaders, the Internet
technical community and civil society, and the leadership of major international organisations, which have a role in making Internet related policy.
The Seoul Ministerial programme will address how the Internet contributes to improving economic performance and social welfare, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges ahead. The Ministerial will explore these issues further through the development of three themes: Benefitting from convergence, promoting creativity, and building confidence, otherwise referred to as the
"three c’s".
The Seoul Ministerial is an important event for business and for OECD as a leading organisation for policy making in the ICT field. BIAC has played a strategic role in all preparations for the meeting, in particular
in working with governments to ensure that the Seoul Ministerial Declaration and its policy framework will provide the strategic vision necessary to support policy development that stimulates business innovation in the Internet
that in turn drives economic growth and the promotion of social benefit.
