OECD Initiatives

Under direction of the Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs, the OECD Investment Committee deals with issues of Corporate Responsibility. To support the implementation of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises the Committee seeks to document developments in the area of corporate responsibility and to highlight good practices. The Organisation’s aim is to improve the understanding of the different roles played by business and governments in raising general well-being and to identify areas of synergy between Guidelines implementation and private initiatives. Finally the Secretariat wants to improve understanding of shared interest of adhering and non-adhering countries in corporate responsibility initiatives.

The OECD conducts a list of meetings and roundtables, as well as it publishes papers to address the ongoing discussion about Corporate Responsibility issues. Special attention should be paid to the jointly organised OECD – ILO Roundtable.

BIAC Initiatives

BIAC’s International Investment and Multinational Enterprises Committee exchanges his views with the OECD on all CR-related issues. BIAC is invited to OECD events and continues to provide the Secretariat with business input in the relevant area. The Investment and MNEs Committee developed the BIAC Guide to the OECD MNE Guidelines, whose aim it is to provide our members with information on the key aspects of the procedure and on the most pressing policy issues affected by the updated Guidelines.

In the area of Corporate Responsibility, BIAC works closely together with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
